We are excited about our partnership with Christian Halls International (CHI). They are an organization that helps create a pathway for our students to take accredited college classes at GCH.

Christian Halls' mission is to "strengthen local communities by offering Christ-centered tutorial-based education that fosters intellectual, spiritual, and vocational formation."

By partnering with Christian universities, colleges, and organizations, CHI's dual enrollment program allows high school students to take online college-level courses from our partner institutions with the guidance of local academic mentors.

Any fees associated with taking dual enrollment classes through GCH can be paid for through Step Up!

Requirements. Students must be at least a sophomore in high school and have a high school unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher for all academic courses. Age limit of 15-19.

How it works. Your high schooler registers for the college courses that we are offering. The college professor of that course is responsible for assigning and grading their work and teaches them online. During the week, your student meets with a "tutor" at GCH who helps them understand how to navigate the online college portal, and organize, understand, and complete her assignments. According to the "Oxford" tutoring system used by CHI, the tutor will also help the student really dig into the content of the course and make sure they are engaging with the concepts in a rigorous way that will prepare them for college-level thinking and work. Because of the high quality of work that the student can create using this style of tutoring, we can be confident that their work will be good and that they will earn good college grades on their high school and college transcripts.

Associate of Arts, General Education (Online, Site-Based & Dual Enrollment)

The Associate of Arts (AA) degree includes the core learning components and competencies commonly accepted as foundational for a four-year baccalaureate degree by many colleges and universities. The AA degree is designed for students who desire recognition for completing the two-year prescribed curriculum. Because many bachelor’s degrees require specific prerequisites, students should verify how their AA degree and classes transfer into the intended degree. Graduates with the Associate of Arts degree will be able to:

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the biblical basis of Christian theology, the history of Christian traditions, and the various expressions of global Christianity.

  • Articulate a biblically-based statement of Christian identity as it relates to theology, ethics, habits and practices, and vocation.

  • Apply critical consideration of ethical principles and actions to their lived experiences as Christians.

  • Demonstrate intellectual and practical fluency in the stewardship of God’s creation, including their own health & wellness, personal & family finances, civic engagement, and the environment.

  • Engage with diverse populations and belief systems.

  • Demonstrate the ability to reason and develop evidence-based decisions using numerical information and to use relevant mathematical and logical methods to analyze and solve problems effectively.

  • Demonstrate information literacy and critical thinking by locating and evaluating information that assists them in examining ideas and evidence before formulating an opinion or conclusion.

  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication with and response to varied audiences.

  • Participate in the discourse of human cultures and their expression in the humanities (e.g. arts, history, literature).

  • Evaluate the relationship between the Christian faith and the sciences (natural, behavioral, and social) and their approaches to understanding and resolving unanswered questions.

*Note: Students taking courses online outside of the State of Florida may be subject to additional Foundational Core requirements for degree completion. State-specific requirements are specified in the SEU Catalog. Your Academic Advisor is available to help integrate these additional courses into your plan.

Dual-enrolled students are limited to completing their Divine Design requirement through general elective courses only.
